In Spring 2021, following prayer and discussion and drawing from our previous Mission Statement, Cairncastle Kirk Session have noted the following concerns and agreed the following ‘Way Forward’ for the congregation:
‘As we emerge from a Vacancy and the lockdown associated with Covid, the Elders share a priority to encourage and where necessary reconnect with our own members of all ages. We recognise a need to keep members regularly informed. We also acknowledge with gratitude all those who have worked with devotion, both in past years and recent times, to nurture faith and fellowship.
More than ever we sense a need to be a welcoming, listening and caring family church and a place of joy where people will want to be.
While we acknowledge our responsibility to
care pastorally for members, we also see a need to promote discipleship as a key value in all we do as a congregation. We want to grow in our faith and practice as followers of Jesus.
To that end we will seek both traditional and fresh ways to promote Worship, Bible Study and Prayer, encourage full participation, develop new leadership and reach out with the Good News of Jesus to the community and world around us.’
Over the coming months and years we intend, God-willing, to pursue these goals in a number of ways. Starting immediately with a ‘We love Sunday’ promotion of Sunday worship, followed by a Communicants Class/Refresher Course in Christian Basics this Autumn, we are planning a review of our Pastoral Strategy and existing activities and will consider elections of new Committee Members/Elders 2022/3 and beyond that, the extension of our outreach/community engagement.
May our Saviour inspire us, His Spirit equip us and our Father bless us as we seek His glory!
