ANNOUNCEMENTS

It was planned to have the installation of Rev. Andrew Watson, as our minister, on the evening of Sunday 6th December.    As a result of restrictions which have closed Churches for 2 weeks, including Dec 6th., the installation is now planned for Sunday 13th December at 7.30pm.

Due to ‘distancing’ requirements, numbers in the Church have been limited but coverage of the event will be relayed into both halls and ‘live streamed’ to the Cairncastle Presbtyerian Church Facebook page.

As indicated above, all Churches have been closed for 2 weeks so, God willing, the next service in Church will be on Sunday 13th Dec. at 11am followed by the installation at 7.30pm.

At this time of the year, children are invited to leave unwrapped presents under the Christmas tree for donation to the Salvation Army.   Obviously this can’t happen, due to the closure of Churches, but gift donations can be left in McFarlanes Chemists on Main St., Larne before the 11th December.

Hopefully Rev. Andrew will be installed and will take the ‘Nativity’service on Sunday 20th Dec at 11am & this will be followed by ‘Carols by Candlelight’ at 7.30pm.

The Christmas Day service at 10.30am will be the usual Family friendly service but again the service will be relayed to the Halls & ‘live streamed’ on Facebook.

On Sunday 27th December there will be NO service but a message from Rev. Andrew will be available on the Facebook page!!

The first service of 2010, 3rd January, will be led by Rev. Andrew.

We are delighted to announce that our voting process has now completed and, God willing, Rev Andrew Watson will soon be coming to join us here in Cairncastle as our new Minister.

We still have a few hoops to go through, a couple of “i”s to dot, not least an installation service plan in these unprecedented days. But this is really wonderful news for our church. So please pray for Andrew and his wife Hazel, as they prepare for the big move to Ballygally and for our church at this new launch.

Let’s also remember to pray for the churches of Carrigart and Dunfanaghy as they move now into a vacancy.

Kirk Session has been busy working out a plan for a safe return to Church. We have been scrutinising the current guide lines from both the Stormont Executive and the General Council of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland.

We are required to adhere to the 2 metre distance rule (except for families) & seating will be controlled by the Elder on duty each Sunday.  Masks are recommended but not mandatory, a ‘one way’ system will operate in the body of the Church.  Contact details for ‘Track & Trace’ purposes will be requested, hand sanitizers will be provided, there may be no congregational singing and the service will be shorter than usual, about 35min.

A staggered leaving process will operate at the end of the service.

Our online worship & telephone services will continue on YouTube by searching for Whitehead Presbyterian Church Community, on Facebook by searching Cairncastle Presbyterian Church or by phone on 02893447218

Please don’t forget in the middle of all this that we are still Church.  Our Father God is still on the Throne, Jesus Christ is still raised from the dead, and the Holy Spirit is still actively teaching us and encouraging us and empowering us to be a blessing to friends and neighbours and to demonstrate the costly love of Christ.

Keep an eye on Whitehead’s Facebook page as well as Cairncastle’s.

Whitehead Presbyterian will be developing some online worship resources which you will be able to access through that page.  This will include a short online weekly worship service which will be posted at 11am on Sunday mornings, with prayers, music, bible readings etc.

This Service can also be listened to 0n a phone by dialing 02893447218.

Whatever you do please keep safe and pay particular attention to what the Government experts tell us to do.  I believe that by working together and supporting one another we can come through these difficult times and begin, hopefully with a new minister, another chapter in the life of Cairncastle Presbyterian.

As well as keeping in touch through Cairncastle’s and Whitehead’s Facebook pages and websites there are many other churches which will be providing Sunday worship and even daily thoughts for the day.  Most of these can be accessed through the Churches website which can be googled.  For example St Patricks will be doing a weekly service on Sundays.

We will pass on as much information as we can to you and you can keep in touch through your elder whose contact details you will see below.  Get in touch and let them know your contact details as well and if you need anything please ask!
